Alghero is a splendid location, but the surrounding area is also worth experiencing. Here are our suggestions for getting around Alghero based on different needs and types of travelers.
As always, we are ready to welcome your suggestions to improve this contribution!

1. Getting around Alghero with a rental car or motorbike

For those who want to move with maximum autonomy or for families with children or the elderly, renting a car in Alghero is undoubtedly the most appropriate choice.

Vantaggi del noleggio auto ad Alghero:

  • You can also easily visit some attractions off the beaten path, such as the Necropolis of Anghelu Ruju, reach the beach of your dreams at any time, plan interesting activities in detail such as guided visits to the local wineries and much more.
  • For those with the family in tow, the car is convenient to bring beach equipment and everything you need for any circumstance.
  • You can also allow yourself to improvise trips to very interesting places such as Bosa, Castelsardo, Villanova Monteleone or Stintino.

Disadvantages of car rental in Alghero:

  • in high season the rental rates can be quite expensive, also due to the very high demand. We therefore recommend that you inform yourself in time by comparing the offers of different companies
  • Alghero is a crowded place: at least in the second half of July and throughout August, be prepared for some traffic and the fact that it is not always easy to find parking. Most of the more comfortable parking spaces or near the most popular beaches are subject to a fee, so if you have a small budget it is good to take this into account.

Getting around with the scooterin Alghero can be a good compromise for those who want comfort and autonomy but at the same time maximum flexibility and lower cost. You will also save precious time by avoiding queues and finding a parking space!

The bicycle can be an excellent choice for sporty travelers, who want to enjoy every corner of this splendid territory in total freedom. For those who do not feel confident in their athletic preparation, e-bikes represent a more than valid alternative.

Advantages of bike rental in Alghero:

  • You can take advantage of the bike not only for daily trips, but – if you like cycling in nature – also for long itineraries in the Porto Conte Park and surroundings: Punta Giglio, Le Prigionette and Monte Doglia are some of the most popular destinations.
  • You will have no parking problems and you can avoid traffic.
  • If you choose an e-bike you can schedule visits within a radius of several kilometers without fear of having to face excessive distances

Disadvantages of bike rental in Alghero:

  • in the height of summer, the high temperatures make it necessary to take some precautions: never forget supplies of water and sunscreen
  • there are some cycle paths, but different destinations can be reached by sharing the roadway with cars, motorcycles and buses: pay attention and if you travel in the evening, equip yourself with what you need to be visible!

Getting around with muscular or electric bicycles is a sustainable and comfortable choice, as long as you take some precautions and rely on serious and reliable renters.
